Program Description
SMAC is an active participant in USA Swimming IM Ready and IMX Challenge. The IMR/X Challenge is a motivational program where swimmers are scored and ranked nationally on their performance in a combination of five or six events.
Athletes participate in a designated combination of five or six events and, based on the power points scored for each of those swims, earn a combined score that is your IMX score. The IMX score is ranked by single ages with rankings and recognition available on the USA Swimming website.
The purpose of the program is to advocate development across a range of events that are integral to long term success in swimming (it makes you a better swimmer) AND the team gets props with USA Swimming!

Age Groups and Events
An IMX or IM Ready score is only established after you swim all of the events required for your age group in a sanctioned meet since the start of the current season; both short and long course seasons start September 1 and end August 31 for IMX/IMR purposes. Additionally, you must complete all of the events in the same course (SCY or LCM) to have a score in that particular course.
To get "IM Ready," you compete in a series of five events at shorter distances. Below, we've listed the line-up by age groups. IM Ready is NOT a prerequisite for IMX.
9 & Under; 10-year olds: 100 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM (SC) or 200 IM (LC)
11-year olds; 12-year olds: 200 Free, 50 Back, 50 Breast, 50 Fly, 100 IM (SC) or 200 IM (LC)
13, 14, 15, 16, 17, & 18-year olds: 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM
Once you've swum each event at least once at an official meet, you can log-in to your USA Swimming Account or through the Deck Pass app, and find out where you rank against all the other swimmers on your club team.
Ready to move forward? The next level is IM Xtreme (IMX). The IMX ranking includes a series of five or six events at longer distances. Once you've completed the IMX program, you can find out where your IMX score ranks nationally, within your zone, within your LSC rank and within your club.
10 & Under: 200 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM
11-12 year olds: 400 Free (LC) or 500 Free (SC), 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 IM
13 - 18 year olds: 400 Free (LC) or 500 Free (SC), 200 Back, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 200 IM, 400 IM
Following is a series of key points detailing information about this great program:
IMX Score
Using Hy-Tek’s Single-Year Age Group Power Points, all USA Swimming registered athletes earn an “IMX Score” based on the cumulative point total of the combination of IMX events for their age level. The overall IMX score, as well as your current best score for each IMX event, appear on the your My USA Swimming page for each season. As times in these events improve, your IMX score is automatically updated.
Your times will count for the entire season - so if you age up during a season the IMX score on the My USA Swimming page will show a score for the lower age group and the new age group.
My USA Swimming Page
SMAC strongly encourages athletes to create a FREE web account with USA Swimming and download the Deck Pass app. This will allow access to your personal My USA Swimming page! If you have already swum the event combo for your age level, the IMX score and ranking automatically appear in a special section of your My USA Swimming page. The only place to access an overall IMX Score, as well as your current best score for each IMX event, is on your personal My USA Swimming page or the Deck Pass app. Other features of this special page include a display of personal best times and corresponding power points, a list of meets participated in, a graphical display of time info, seasonal and lifetime best comparisons, in addition to other member-only features.
