The 2024-2025 season has started!
SMAC welcomes swimmers throughout the season. If you are interested in joining, please fill out this form:
Please see the following for information about what we will be looking for during these evaluations.
Athletes who are new to competitive, year-round swimming seeking placement on the team must be able to complete a continuous 25 yards of freestyle (or crawl stroke) with side breathing and a continuous 25 yards of backstroke. Please view the video linked here as a reference for these skills.
More experienced athletes will be required to meet additional criteria. Brief descriptions and expectations for membership in our competitive training groups can be found below.
Catfish. Our introductory group. The fundamentals of all four strokes are taught as well as skills that will allow them to function as part of a swim team. Skills and fun are emphasized.
Stroke Development. This group prepares participants for competitive swimming. Swimmers will learn the structure of a swim practice and acquire additional competitive swimming skills including starts and turns. Swimmers can complete 25 yards of each stroke. Athletes enter and exit the water without assistance.
Age Group. Swimmers entering Age Group have met the performance goals in stroke development and will continue to develop as athletes. Athletes are encouraged to attend as many workouts as possible and attend meets as prescribed by the coaching staff.
Senior. Swimmers in the Senior Group are athletes who want to continue to achieve a high level of performance both at practice and at meets. Goal setting, time management, communication with coaching staff and technical mastery continue to play integral roles in training. Swimmers understand that they must contribute to the group for the good of the team. Multi-sport athletes and high school swimmers looking to train the rest of the year are encouraged to join the Senior Group.
Athletes seeking placement in the Age Group Performance, Senior Performance, and National groups should communicate directly with the lead coach at their preferred location. The coach’s contact email will be found on the bottom of the group’s informational page.
