In preparation for Championship season, SMAC traveled to Colorado Springs to visit the Olympic Training Center February 23rd-26th. A jammed pack 4-day training trip which included 6 - 2hour LCM pool sessions, 4 classroom meetings, and, 2 strength & conditioning sessions. When swimmers weren’t training, they spent time eating together in the cafeteria or playing cards in the dorm halls. Good afternoon, This past weekend, our team went down to Chandler, Arizona and took part in the 2020 Lost Dutchman Invitational, which was hosted by Rio Solado Swim Club at Chandler High School. The meet started a little slow with a travel day taking us right to the pool upon arrival, but just like the weather, things started to heat up pretty quickly. Winter Jr Championship Recap SMAC co-hosted Winter Jr Championships at KCAC last Tuesday-Saturday. We started off the meet with long course time trials where Tyler Lu got his 2nd olympic trial cut in the 200 im! SMAC had 10 qualifiers and 4 relay-only athletes compete in the meet where we finished 18th in the combined team scores. We jumped up 15 places from 2018. SMAC men were 12th and SMAC women were 39th. QMeet & UPAC Distance Meet Recap With Championship season approaching, SMAC athletes took an opportunity for some fast swimming over the weekend at the Q Meet and UPAC’s distance meet. As a team, SMAC swimmers picked up 53 new PNS Champs cuts, 9 new Age Group Regional cuts, 46 new Gold times, and 69 athletes swam 100% lifetime best times in all their events. Tickets for USA Swimming Winter Junior Nationals are on sale now. Passes for all sessions are $60 for adults, $45 for youth and seniors, and $25 for high school students. Passes for individual sessions are $25 for adults, $15 for youth and seniors, and $5 for high school students. This is an opportunity to watch your SMAC teammates race against the fastest 18 and under competition in the country. Come support your team and your teammates. On Monday September 9, 2019 USA Swimming announced the names of the swimmers who have been selected for the 2018-2019 Scholastic All-American Team. To qualify an athlete must have completed 9th to 12th grade, maintained a 3.5 GPA, and met a 2018 Winter Junior National time standard. Seven swimmers from SMAC were selected for the 2018-2019 Scholastic All American Team. The number of times selected is noted by the number inside the parenthesis.
